Saturday marked the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women – held to honour the 14 women who were murdered in an anti-feminist shooting at École Polytechnique in 1989, as well as other victims.

Those gathered at the school for a memorial warned that violence against women remains an urgent problem.
