Former police officer turned revolutionary gang leader, head of the powerful Viv Ansanm coalition, and the guy with a $5 million U.S. bounty on his head. At the time, his alliance controlled over 80% of Port-au-Prince, the country was spiraling, and almost nobody from the outside was getting this kind of access.
